SCP 7924 Film and TV Screening Assistant

 

Job Summary

 

The Communications, Drama and Film department require a current PGT or PGR student as a Screening Assistant to provide support to the film team through screening DVDs. You will collect DVDs from the library’s screening collection and screen films/TV programmes to UG and PG students in term-time. You will stay for the first five minutes or so to check the recording is playing correctly and to return the DVD to the collection at the end of the screening. There are usually c. 14-16 screenings a week. Each screening is calculated as worth an hour’s pay. 

 

This role is part of the Student Campus Partnership (SCP) scheme and offers around 200 hours of work in total from September 2025 to May 2026. You will work from Streatham campus.

Pay: £14.12 per hour (includes rolled in holiday pay)

 

 

 

Purpose of the Role

 

To provide support to the film team through screening DVDs. 

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Collect and return DVDs from library screening collection (ask at desk)
  • Screen DVDs in correct location according to provided timetable
  • This is an independent role

About You (Person Specification)

 

Degree and Attainment

  • Current PGT or PGR student for the duration of the internship

 

Skills

  • Reliable
  • Familiar with AV systems and DVD players
  • Ability to remain calm and liaise with AV support where necessary

  • This is a role that requires a reliable and self-motivated individual who is able to provide a consistently good experience for the students.

  • Undergraduate students can work a maximum of 15 hours per week in term-term or full-time hours in vacation.
  • Full time Postgraduate students can work a maximum of 6 hours per week and no more than 180 hours per year, this includes those working already working as Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (PTA). You may work more hours with written permission from your academic.
