Category Manager

This role will support the procurement function by running and managing a portion of the procurement activity at Salix Homes. Working in a small, although highly effective, team, activities will range from managing procurement projects, contract management activities, liaising with the individual business areas to provide sound procurement advice and adhering to Salix Homes own procurement strategy. The role holder will ensure Salix Homes’ adheres to commercial and regulatory requirements as well as relevant legislation. You will work closely with the Strategic Procurement Manager and Contracts Manager to provide efficiencies across the annual spend of c£52m with an aim to consolidating the supplier base.
 

The role - What I’ll be doing
• Providing strategic procurement advice across all levels and departments of the organisation to inform decision making
• Ensuring our procurement activity is compliant in relation to UK procurement law (Procurement Act 2015) and represents best practice
• Developing procurement delivery targets, including cashable savings and generating social value savings to achieve the maximum benefit for customers and the organisation
• Overseeing the completion of the procurement workplan - including successful completion of tenders, oversight of Terms & Conditions and effective contract management
• Embedding value for money across Salix


What we’re looking for
• A self-motivated, experienced Category Manager who has public sector procurement knowledge and experience
• A procurement industry related professional qualification or working towards (MCIPS, CIPS, Logistics and supply chain MSc or equivalent similar)
• Well-developed communication skills
• Assist with the ongoing development of procurement and contract management systems
• Strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness, negotiating skills
